Scope of Works
The London College of Communication is situated adjacent to the Elephant and Castle Shopping Centre. Our scope of works included replacing the flat roof coverings to the main 15 storey Tower Block and the adjacent lower flat roof areas. The outer perimeter of the flat roof area was treated with a liquid coating system to eliminate the risks associated with removing the existing handrail and working on an unprotected edge. We also dismantled the redundant window cleaning gantry and removed this from site and the replacement of defective rainwater downpipes. Access to the top roof was via an internal lift (one was set-aside for our use) and then by stairs from the 14th floor and then by CAT ladder onto the roof. The building remained fully operational during the works serving as teaching accommodation within a commercial, retail, education and residential environment. As can be seen from the photographs, the view from the top was spectacular!
